Essential Elements of a Beautiful Home

Decorating a new home can be exciting and at the same time exhausting and bewildering because of the numerous choices available. It can be puzzling to select elements from the wide array of products in the market. However, a few essential guidelines can come handy when planning the interiors. Your home is a space where you’ll spend the most cherished moments and the décor should ideally match your taste and create an environment where you feel…well “at home”.
  1. Select the Plan Well
It is essential to select a plan that gels well with you and your family’s daily requirements and lifestyle. In India for building home we need to select plan for 1 or 2 or 3 bedroom house plans Indian style. A floor plan can be open or compartmentalized depending on your choice for a home with a central focal point or private silos. Visualize the plan and understand how the house flows and its functionality. Eg: One should keep in mind if there are old parents and young kids in the house or you need a home office or a quiet reading nook. The idea is to plan well for the future and incorporate those attributes in the home plan.
  1. Select a Theme for the Interiors
While the internet is flooded with images of homes with eclectic décor and interiors, it is advisable to stick to a theme of say modern/contemporary/bohemian or whatever fancies you. The mixing of elements can leave the house look shabby and unplanned. However, movable décor elements can be used and played around with to give different feel and look.
  1. Color Scheme
Choosing a neutral color palette is often the first choice of interior decorators and home owners when it comes to choosing a color scheme for the house. One can then add a personal touch and character to each room or area depending on functionality of the room and the dweller. Common rooms are generally the most ignored areas of a household. These can however function as great focal points and can use wide range of colors leading upto different rooms and areas. Choose warm palettes for spaces that are used for unwinding. Balconies and sundecks can have cool colors as an overarching theme.
  1. Furniture and Décor Accessories
With so many styles, designs like Victorian, Handicrafts/Ethnic, modern etc. of furniture available in the market; it can be overwhelming to select something that will go with the theme of the interiors. A piece of furniture/decorative motif may look beautiful on a standalone basis but may disturb the theme of the interiors. A carefully curated exquisite piece of furniture/art deco may instantly light up a dull space. It is useful to visualize the interplay of various design elements before embarking on that binge buying for a piece you liked at a flea market or an upmarket furniture lounge.
Let these elements collectively make a statement for your house and you.
